Fareham leaders discuss green growth in the Solent

More than 70 of the region’s leading developers, investors and local authority representatives came together at Solent Airport Daedalus to discuss the Solent’s future growth plans.

The first of South Coast CPS’s pre-conference series kicked off at Fareham Innovation Centre at Daedalus Business Park with speakers from Eaton Aerospace, the Solent Mitigation Partnership (SMP) and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

The conference’s main point of discussion was sustainable housing solutions that address the urgent need for homes across the south whilst protecting wildlife and limiting nitrate pollution in Solent waters.

Adrian Glaire and Matt Carter from Eaton Aerospace also shared the company’s plans to relocate from their Titchfield site to a new facility at Daedalus Business Park – a move that’s reducing Eaton’s carbon footprint, safeguarding hundreds of jobs and creating space for future aerospace talent.

Director of South Coast CPS Lucy Richmond said: “The event was a real success and has set off our pre-conference series to a great start. Our speakers were able to showcase the incredible work they’re doing to protect local wildlife populations, limit environmental impact and enable the region’s economic growth.

“Our schedule of events at South Coast CPS places connection at the centre. We provide a space where industry professionals, local authorities and sustainability experts work in collaboration and discuss how they can transform the south into an ideal place to live and work together.”

The conference was one of South Coast CPS’s CPD-accredited events in the lead-up to the main exhibition taking place on Thursday 13th November this year.
